On Monday, ABC canceled the Baker and The Beauty. But, star Nathalie Kelley tells fans not to despair. Could another network pick up the romcom? Here is what we know now.

The Baker And The Beauty Canceled

On Monday, ABC canceled the Baker and The Beauty. The mid-season romcom was a remake of the popular Israeli series. According to TV Line, the show, which starred Victor Rasuk (How To Make It In America) and Nathalie Kelley (Dynasty) was one of the network’s lowest performing series. It aired right after the Listen To Your Heart, the latest in the Bachelor franchise.

There were many questions about a renewal. Networks expect new shows to get certain numbers that first season. There is always an audience drop in Season 2. It is even tougher for mid-season shows. Unfortunately, Season 2 looked like a lot of fun. The producer already  “mapped out” the new season with four different love stories.

Baker And The Beauty Season 2 Was About Four Love Stories

Baker and The Beauty Season 1 ended with Noa and Daniel’s surprise engagement. But, according to showrunner and creator, Dean Georgaris, this was just a preview into Season 2. He explained to TV Line that he wants to tell four love stories.

In addition, in the Season 2 storyline, Dean Georgaris explained that now Noa would no longer be in her world. She would be in the world of the Garcias. The new season would help uncover if this is a love story made to last. Georgaris asked, “OK, you love each other, but are you actually good partners?” The fairy tale “bubble” is now gone. They are in the real world now. Could these new obstacles affect their relationship?

This turn of events will bring “new life” to the show. Speaking of new life, could the Baker and The Beauty be saved?

Nathalie Kelley Shares Hope

Not long after the show was canceled, Baker and The Beauty star Nathalie Kelley went to Instagram to share her optimism that there is still hope. The Aussie actress shared that they believe that there is a place for this romcom gem.

“Hey everyone! This is a @bakerandthebeauty update to announce we will not be continuing on @abcnetwork- though thankful to them for the opportunity to tell this story. BUT – don’t despair! We are optimistic that the show will find the right home – and we will get to make a season two on a platform more suitable for us and for the amazing fan base. 🌸 tell us why you want a season two… !”

Other shows, such as Lucifer, found new homes elsewhere. Lucifer was on Fox, but the network surprised everyone when it was canceled. Eventually, Netflix picked it up. Has the Baker and the Beauty received offers from other networks? Kelley did not name names. Yet, this sort of optimism may be based on some preliminary talks. Will fans will see their feel-good series get picked up soon?

Before they made a decision to renew or cancel, Georgaris had revealed that ABC was “incredibly supportive.” They were even excited about the Season 2 outline. But, in the end, it is a “business.” The good news is that in 2020, there are more options than traditional networks. Hopefully one has a soft side for a sweet romance set in Miami!
