Katy Perry did not collaborate with Taylor Swift. This is just a rumor that fans created. The singer just revealed the truth about her possible collaboration with her former enemy. Fans of both pop stars speculated about their rumored duet for several weeks. They assumed that both Perry and Swift dropped hints about their collab on social media.
It all started earlier this month when Perry shared the artwork for her upcoming album, Daisies. It’s also the name for her lead single. The cover art features the singer in a field of daises. Not too soon after, Swift posted a picture of herself wearing a sweater that featured daisies. Fans assumed that the two were collaborating on Perry’s new album.
Katy Perry addresses the Taylor Swift collaboration rumors
In an interview with Hits Radio Breakfast on Friday, May 15, Katy Perry confirmed that she didn’t collaborate with Taylor Swift. But that doesn’t mean it’s not happening anytime soon. Perry expressed an interest in collaborating with the “Lover” singer.
“No, it’s not correct,” Perry said, when asked about the rumor. “But the fans are definitely excited for something like that to happen in the future, and I’m always open.”
Per E! Online, Perry said she loves how both of their fans are so enthusiastic over their search for clues. She makes sure to include as many as possible in her lyric videos and music videos. Except this time around. Perry laughed and said that she just wanted to feature daisies in her new song.
Is Taylor Swift providing the background vocals on Perry’s new song?
Fans aren’t happy with Katy Perry’s confirmation. Some fan theories led them to believe that Swift can be heard in the background of Perry’s new single, “Daisies.” She released both the song and video on Friday, May 15. The “vibey new track,” per Billboard shows Perry returning to her pop sound from the early 2000s.
There’s a moment when she sings the word three times. At the end, her voice breaks into electronic echoes. However, the song could use a backbeat. But it’s replaced by the empowering visuals that’s featured in the shots throughout the music video. Perry strips down naked and comfortably shows off her baby bump near a waterfall.
She did invite her neighbor Adele over before the quarantine
Katy Perry did admit something else that her fans did not know. Her and Adele are next-door neighbors.
“We live very close to each other, so close that… and we’re friendly and we’ve known each other for a long time,” Perry explained. “I haven’t seen her in person since she’s been transforming herself because pre-quarantine, I was busy, she was busy, she’s making a record, I’m making a record and touring…”
Perry recalled the time when Adele paid a visit to her home. She said the “Hello” singer showed up unannounced at her door. They shared a drink and chat for a while. She called the songstress “great” and “very real.”
