‘Psych 2: Lassie Come Home’ Peacock Drop Date Finally Announced
Psych-Os finally have an official release date for the second Psych movie, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home. Who is coming back for this movie, what is it about and when can fans watch?
What Is The Psych 2 Peacock Drop Date?
According to EW, Psych 2: Lassie Come Home drops on July 15. That also happens to be the day that the new Peacock streaming channel premieres. This has been quite a long journey for Psycho-Os. Back in the spring 2019, they began filming Psych: Lassie Come Home. The plan was that USA Network would air the second movie during the 2019 Christmas holiday. Subsequently, when plans for the new Peacock streaming was finalized, they decided to delay airing the movie and make it part of the premiere.
Of course, the Peacock streaming premiere was to coincide with the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Suddenly, the network successfully scrambled to include more original programming. Those who sign up for Peacock Premium will get to see a cornucopia of new and original programming. This includes Brave New World, The Capture, Intelligence, In Deep With Ryan Lochte, and Lost Speedways.
Who Is Returning To Second Movie?
Of course, James Roday is back as Shawn Spencer and Dulé Hill is back as Burton “Gus” Guster. Lassie fans should be thrilled that there will be lots of Carlton Lassiter. As the title suggests, TV Shows Ace reports that Timothy Omundson is back, and with “second helpings.” The talented actor had a stroke right before the first movie was about to shoot. Thus, he was only in a small cameo. He will be front and center in the second movie.
Of course, Psych would not be without Maggie Lawson, Kirsten Nelson, and Corbin Bernsen. Some familiar faces are back in guest appearances. This includes Jimmi Simpson, Joel McHale, Sarah Chalke and Kadeem Hardison, There are also a couple of newcomers appearing. They include Roday’s A Million Little Things costar Allison Miller, and Hill’s former West Wing costar Richard Schiff. There may even be some more surprises.
What Is Psych 2: Lassie Come Home About?
First of all, Lassie Come Home has a huge timeshift from the first Psych movie. Set in the present day, the new movie has a very Hitchcockian feel, but with that special Psych twist. Lassie is at a care facility, rehabbing his injuries after an ambush that nearly killed him. He begins to think he is seeing things. Lassie is seeing a lot of strange things going on.
Gus and Shawn leave San Francisco and return to Santa Barbara to see Lassie. There, they are drawn into more strange happenings. They don’t have the safety net of their family and friends. Instead, they are not welcomed by the Santa Barbara police. Can they figure out what is really going on there?
