‘VPR:’ Scheana Shay Calls Out ‘Double Standard’ On Show, Gets Massive Support From Fans
Scheana Shay called out a “double standard” on the show. This comes after a Vanderpump Rules editor admitted to making Scheana look “boy crazy.” The VPR star wanted to clear the air and reveal what really happened during that cringe-worthy scene with Stassi Schroeder’s younger brother.
Back in April, Scheana asked her co-star’s brother, Nikolai, if he was seeing anyone. Fans accused Scheana of “hitting on” the teenager. Scheana’s words were taken out of context. Read on to learn more about that embarrassing scene and what really happened.
VPR star claims her words were taken out of context
Per Us Weekly, Scheana Shay appeared on the “Everything Iconic With Danny Pellegrino” podcast. She explained that infamous scene that played out on the Bravo reality series. Scheana asked Stassi’s brother his thoughts on dating. But she revealed that the show took the conversation – and her confessional – out of context.
“That was about something completely different,” Scheana said. “Dayna [Kathan] and I actually got close over the summer and I was telling her about this guy I met out. He was tall, really good looking and I was like, ‘Yeah, we’re gonna get a drink later,’ and the next thing I find out, this kid’s 21. … So I joked about that in a scene which of course you didn’t see.”

Scheana was asked during the confessional how much younger she’d be willing to date. But she was referring to the college kid in the interview that she “didn’t even know” was over 10 years younger than her. However, viewers thought she was talking about Nikolai.
“I’m not teasing him in that way,” Scheana continued. “That is disgusting and anyone who even alluded to that and made the jokes … you’re gross for going there. And I also think it’s this crazy double standard thing.”
Scheana noted that the reaction would have been different if one of her male costars had a similar conversation with a teenage girl. Her comments come after Vanderpump Rules editor Bri Dellinger slammed her over how she’s portrayed on the series. Scheana feels that she comes off as “very one-dimensional” and “boy-crazy,” while Bri claims that she’s just “bitter.” However, Bri did admit that her “favorite game is finding all of the embarrassing things that Scheana does and putting them all in.”
Scheana Shay is grateful for everyone’s support
Per Page Six, Scheana Shay is grateful for receiving support after the editor admitted that she likes to embarrass the VPR star. She even made Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark appear as the “special heroes” throughout Season 8. Both podcast interviews are mysteriously gone. Despite the controversy, Scheana has been getting her share of support. On Twitter, fans showed their support with the hashtag “#JusticeforScheana.”
“She’s received several messages and calls from cast members, many of whom are working behind the scenes to ensure that Bravo and production don’t just sweep this under the rug,” an insider told the outlet on Tuesday, May 12.

Bravo also spoke to Scheana about this matter. She promised not to address the situation on social media. However, she did hint to the controversy on Monday. In the now-deleted tweet, Scheana wrote, “Hey @Andy I have some tea for you … check your DMs!”
Scheana hasn’t publicly commented on the editor’s interview. Instead, she liked a series of tweets from Bravo fans who support her.
