’90 Day Fiancé’: Lisa & Usman Face Wedding Dilemmas
90 Day Fiancé couple Lisa Hamme and Usman “SojaBoy” Umar had plans to tie the knot this week. They had decided on a simple courthouse wedding. However, just days before their intended wedding date, they ran into trouble. The Sunday, May 3 episode shows Lisa and SojaBoy stressing over missing paperwork. In addition to legal issues, rumors claim that the couple is experiencing relationship issues. Because of these problems, Lisa and SojaBoy’s wedding plans are up in the air. Is a wedding still in the works?
Lisa’s paperwork fiasco
Because SojaBoy is from Nigeria, the couple planned to get married there. In Nigeria, marriage requirements are a little different than they are in the United States. Couples in Nigeria must post a public notice a few days before the wedding. This gives citizens a chance to object if either the bride or groom is currently married.
Lisa was previously married in the United States but is now divorced. So, she should be off the hook, right? Well, she forgot to bring her divorce papers with her to Nigeria. Due to this mistake, the marriage officer can’t post the public notice of marriage. On Sunday’s episode of 90 Day Fiancé, Lisa rushes to get her papers in order before their big day. If she can’t get the documents to Nigeria by their marriage date, Nigerian officials may require Lisa and SojaBoy to postpone their courthouse wedding.
90 Day Fiancé star SojaBoy’s obligation to Lisa
On the April 21 episode of Lip Service podcast, SojaBoy reveals that he’s staying with Lisa because he feels like she needs him. When he told Lisa that he didn’t love her, she tried to kill herself. Because of this, SojaBoy hesitates to leave her. He says that he has stayed with her to prevent her from dying by suicide.
Lisa denies SojaBoy’s story. Her promoter, Rocco Straz, backs her up, saying, “Suicide is something that should not be thrown around lightly. Lisa has a beautiful family and would never do such a thing!” Regardless of which story holds true, Straz says that the couple is still together.
SojaBoy and Lisa’s marriage could potentially be polygamous
For SojaBoy, a Nigerian Muslim, polygamous relationships are the norm. SojaBoy’s religion allows him to have up to four wives. On Lip Service podcast, 90 Day Fiancé star SojaBoy expresses his interest in marrying more than one woman. On the same podcast episode, he also claims that Lisa isn’t supportive of his decision to have more than one wife.

According to Lisa, this isn’t true. Straz steps in again to clarify Lisa’s concerns. Straz explains that Lisa isn’t against a polygamous marriage. However, she requires that SojaBoy must provide for all of his wives financially. This includes living expenses and insurance for each wife. Nigerian law holds the same marriage requirements.
