Married at First Sight alum Jamie Otis is getting closer to giving birth to her son. While she and husband Doug Hehner are excited to meet their rainbow baby, they have had some tough decisions. With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Jamie made the tough decision to deliver at home. Now, she was advised by her physician to get the COVID-19 test prior to her due date.

Jamie’s doctor advised her to get test

While she is not showing symptoms, Jamie’s doctor wanted her to get a coronavirus test before giving birth. She has been amazing at sharing every step of the way through her pregnancy with fans. Jamie is open and shares her truths, her fears and her joys. She shares it all. This is no different. She documented the testing process for her followers. Should her test return a positive result, Jamie will have to stay away from her son for two full weeks after his birth.

The videos she shared on Instagram shows her breaking down during the test and immediately following.  She shared that she felt so silly crying all the time as she wiped away tears. Jamie went on to say, “I don’t know why, I’m genuinely just so nervous. I think I’m fine. But then I’m like, ‘Am I fine? I don’t know if I’m fine.’ Just the swab, I mean, that hurt really bad going up. So then I was like, ‘Good God, if I can’t handle the swab going up my nose, how am I going to have an unmedicated childbirth?'”

She goes on to share her feelings about being a nurse

As most fans know, Jamie is an RN. She worked in labor and delivery so she knows the ins and outs of childbirth and the risks of birthing outside of the hospital. However, she isn’t currently working in the nursing field. So in her post she says, “Honestly, I’m an RN and should be out there helping too but instead I’m safe inside. Which I justify with being pregnant but there are *so many* pregnant women going into the battle zone daily! They’re the real heroes!!!!”

Now that Jamie is full term she can deliver her son safely at home. After talking it over with Doug, they decided together the pros outweighed the cons. Overall, Jamie and Doug are just thankful to be having a healthy rainbow baby. They are overjoyed to make their family of three into a family of four.

Jamie has not been notified of her test results yet or not that she has shared with fans. Hopefully it is negative and she can relax in preparation for their son’s arrival. MAFS and Bachelor fans are excited to see pictures of her new baby when he makes his debut.
