TV Shows Ace first reported that Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard will be sending their son, Israel, to school. In a family that has always homeschooled their children, this is a big deal.
Jill shared the big news with her followers via a YouTube video and a post on Instagram. The mom documented kindergarten registration. She and Derick excitedly reported that Israel had passed his screening and was ready for kindergarten. He will start going to public school in the fall. In the video, the four-year-old is happy to be exploring his new school.
Along with revealing the big news, Jill asked for advice from her followers. Lots of her Instagram followers have experience with sending their kids to school. Many of them are parents themselves. So, they seem like a good group of people to ask. Jill can’t go to her family for advice because they don’t go to public school.
Duggar fans give Jill advice
Since Jill asked for tips and tricks, lots of her followers are weighing in. Some are suggesting she gets Israel in the routine of waking up early soon. Others are saying she needs to make sure he can open all of the containers she packs in his lunch box.
A handful of parents are encouraging Jill to get involved at the school too. They suggest she joins the PTO or volunteers in the classroom.
Some are warning Jill that the first week or two will be rough. Duggar fans are discussing their own experiences and that adjustment period. Israel will need some time to get used to being in school all day.
Not all fans are excited for Israel
Many Duggar fans are expressing their excitement for Israel. They are talking about how this will be a great experience for the young boy and how he’s going to make a lot of friends. Plus, they’re impressed with Jill’s decision to break away from her family a bit.
But, some of her followers are expressing concern. So, on her post, Jill has received a handful of comments about the “dangerous” and “worldly” things that public schools teach. Some are trying to discourage Jill from sending Israel to kindergarten and they want her to homeschool him. Since the video features the family at registration, it’s a little too late.
Fortunately, many of her followers are defending her decision. They’re reminding the haters that Jill and Derick are choosing what’s best for their son and their family. They also tell the haters that this isn’t a decision that Jill and Derick could’ve made quickly. It’s a big deal.
