19 Kids and Counting introduced TLC fans to the Duggar family. Over the years, fans looked through small windows in the life of the Duggar family during episodes of 19 Kids and Counting and Counting On. Viewers got to see how tight of a controlling grip Jim Bob and his wife Michelle had over their children.

Now, it is a pretty large assumption across the Duggar fan base that the grip loosens as the children get married, leave the home, and have children of their own. It, however, appears as if that may not be the case. In fact, according to Cheat Sheet, there’s some pretty strong evidence regarding just how controlling Jim Bob is.

Amy Duggar has never been allowed to spend time alone with her cousins.

Amy Duggar (who now prefers to be addressed as only Amy King) admits she was never allowed to spend time alone with her cousins. As we previously reported, there is reason to believe, even as adults, Jim Bob would prefer his children not hang out with Amy. For example, some suspect Joy Anna spends no time with her cousin despite living next door to her because of her father’s tight grip.

According to Cheat Sheet, Amy Duggar confirmed that even as a teenager she wasn’t allowed to spend time alone with her cousins.

It was a few years ago that Amy first made the information known on social media. She explained that she could only hang out with her cousins if Jim Bob was ok with it. She continued to explain this meant she had to go to the Duggar compound so Jim Bob and Michelle could monitor the conversation.

During an interview with People Magazine, Amy explained Michelle and Jim Bob were concerned Amy would be a bad influence on their children.

While Amy does identify as Christian, she does not belong to the same super conservative faith as her cousins. Amy King attended a traditional school. She also dated as opposed to courting.

Amy doesn’t see much of her Duggar cousins per Jim Bob and Michelle.

It appears as if the comments Amy King made several years ago about her Duggar cousins are still true. Currently, there are just shy of a dozen Duggar children who are still not married. While most are still children, Jana Duggar is in her 30’s. Notably, she is close to her cousin Amy King in age. So, it would make sense for the duo to be friends. They, however don’t appear to spend any time together.

The last time the Duggar family mentioned Amy was when she gave birth to her son Daxton Ryan. There, however, weren’t many sweet family photos of her son’s birth.

Amy King does have a relationship with Jill Dillard.

Noticeably, Amy King does have a relationship with her cousin Jill Dillard and her husband Derick. It, however, is a well-known fact that Jill has been disowned by her parents. So, the friendship she shares with Amy makes sense.
