Brooks Laich and Julianne Hough have reportedly been having marriage issues. It started last month when the couple didn’t spend New Year’s Eve together. In addition, Hough was spotted without her ring on several occasions. And Laich’s New Year’s Day post hinted towards undergoing major changes in his life.
The couple reportedly has a rough patch in their marriage. As TV Shows Ace reported, they have been living separate lives. That doesn’t mean that they plan to end their marriage. The couple is working things out and are remaining hopeful.

Hockey player is “still hoping things will work out” with his wife
As People reported, Brooks Laich doesn’t want to let go of Julianne Hough. An insider told the outlet that he wants things to work out in their favor. He’s not willing to file for divorce. Even though Hough “already has her own life that she seems happy with,” Laich is the one who “keeps holding on.”
“If it was up to Brooks, he would stay married,” the source said. “And he is obviously still hoping things will work out with Jules.”
But his friends are concerned about him. They want him “to take care of himself” instead of focusing on Hough. The insider claims that this latest rough patch is “just a phase,” and that the couple doesn’t plan to announce their marriage problems. While the couple doesn’t want to give up on each other, they don’t even want to address their marital trouble to each other.
Brooks Laich is “putting happiness” first
The 36-year-old hockey player is finally focusing on himself, according to E! News. On Wednesday, Jan. 22, he revealed that his sole focus right now is seeking happiness. He also revealed that he’s taking a good look at his life and is focusing on the things that make him happy. He wants to place those things at the top of his list.

He then explained that this week is the first week of his “new approach” to living and that he’s “absolutely loving” it so far. Laich isn’t addressing his marriage problems. He’s just hoping that his Instagram post will inspire his fans to do the same. He encouraged his fans to share their thoughts on this “new approach” and see how it helps their lives.
Julianne Hough is “supportive” of his new personal growth journey
The dance professional is supporting him on his journey to self-exploration. TV Shows Ace reported that he’s exploring his sexuality. Last week, Laich attended the iHeartRadio Podcast Awards Presented by Capital One. He told In Touch and other outlets that he wants to “learn about intimacy and sexuality in my life.” The podcast host explained the journey that he’s made so far. His goal in this journey is to discover who he truly is.
Laich also said that Hough has been supportive with his journey. She already has his support.
“My wife has been very supportive of this transition phase in my life as well. Just always on a personal journey.”
He did wear his wedding ring at the event. This is a stark contrast to the reports about the issues in his marriage. Sources previously told Life & Style that the couple “want different things in life.” But now it looks like Laich wants to work things out with Hough. Hopefully, these new changes will bring the couple closer together.
