‘Bringing Up Bates’: Kelly Bates In The Wars – Celebrates Anniversary With A Broken Foot
Bringing Up Bates matriarch Gil Bates sometimes gets a bit too competitive and then he hurts himself. But this time, his wife Kelly Bates had an accident in the dark and broke her foot. That meant he and Kelly celebrated their wedding anniversary watching Hallmark in a hotel room. But, it looks like they still had a loving and special time.

TV Shows Ace reported in October that Gil ended up needing shoulder surgery. It came after he got a bit too competitive. Back then, we noted the Inrgaram account of @batesfam explained he hurt himself at a youth group event. They shared, “push ups lol!!!! Competition!!!! And old age lol!!!!!” Anyway, the family spoiled him for a while, as did their local community.
Sometimes, Gil stays away from physical activities. For example, he usually doesn’t dance. That’s not because he’s afraid of tripping over his dance partner and breaking a leg. But, rather about the “chemistry” that comes with it, according to Knox News. Mind you, they noted that Carlin persuaded him to dance at her wedding to Evan Stewart in May this year. Now pregnant, she was the first of the Bringing Up Bates family to react to Kelly’s anniversary post on Instagram.
How did Kelly Bates break her foot and celebrate their anniversary?
On the @batesfam anniversary post on Thursday night, Kelly explained how she broke her foot. The mother of 19 and grandma of 10, noted she hurt her foot on the stairs. The post read, “I broke my foot last Friday night when I went downstairs in the dark and thought I was at the bottom step 😳 …I stumbled down the last 3 steps… and voila!” Ouch! The picture shows her in a medical boot, lying on the bed. But, it never stopped Gil and Kelly celebrating their special day.
The Bringing Up Bates star explained why her photos showed her with no makeup on, and in PJ mode. She added, “This is what you do with a broke foot: go to a hotel, take off your makeup, order food to go, take off the old boot, and watch Hallmarks lol!!! (And the gifts were delivered to our room by the sweet hotel staff for our anniversary! Just doesn’t get any better!)” She also shared a special message to Gil.

The super-loving message for her anniversary read, “Celebrating 32 years with you has got to be one of the biggest blessings of my life!!!! I take it for granted, but after all these years, all these kiddos, all these crazy changes and schedules and every sort of up and down and all around that a person can go on- all I can say is, ‘I’d do it all again and again with you by my side!’ You make me mad and glad and all in between, but more than anything else, you make me feel loved and special…. and you make me sooooooo happy to be married to you!!!! Thank you for being you and for loving me!!!”

Bringing Up Bates’ daughter Carlin commented, writing, “Y’all are the cutest! 🤩🤩 Happy anniversary, mom and dad!!!🤩.”
