Hallmark’s Christmas Under The Stars is heartwarming love story about finding hope during the Christmas holidays. Starring two Hallmark favorites paired up again, Jesse Metcalfe and Autumn Reeser, the Countdown to Christmas continues with love, miracles and the Christmas spirit.
What Is Christmas Under The Stars About?
There are shooting stars when a recently fired investment banker and an astronomy teacher serendipitously meet during Christmastime. Nick Bellwith (Metcalfe) finds his life severely downgraded from working at well-known firm to working at a Christmas tree lot. The lot is owned by Clem Marshwell (Clarke Peters), good-hearted widower who enjoys dispensing sage advice to Nick.
Sparks fly with Nick meets Julie Gibbons (Reeser), who is a bit of a dreamer who looks up at the stars for wishes to come true. But, IRL, she is in big trouble, as a financial institution is harassing her for money that she doesn’t have. She and Nick get closer, until she discovers that he worked for that very same greedy institution! She doesn’t want anything to do with him. Nick discovers that things are not going so well for Clem, either.
Soon, Nick finds himself with two jobs, and two financial problems he needs to resolve. But, he is missing the Christmas holiday and his heartbreak is not so easy to resolve. Can he redeem himself in Julie’s eyes and capture Christmas love?
Author Rikk Dunlap’s Own Christmas Miracle
Christmas Under The Stars was written by Rikk Dunlap, whose own story of despair and recovery is inspiring. He spoke to People about how he personal struggle with alcoholism that damaged his life so badly that his wife left him. The high school maintenance worker immediately stopped drinking and started writing, something he loved in his youth.
He remembered a Christmas tree lot in Richton Park, Illinois, and started writing some of his own memories. The result is his novel The Christmas Tree Lot, which Hallmark decided to turn into the movie Christmas Under The Stars.
When Can You See Christmas Under The Stars?
Christmas Under the Stars premiered November 16, with Encores airing on Dec. 8 at 10:03 p.m., Dec. 11 at 8 p.m., Dec. 21 at 4 p.m., Dec. 24 at 8 p.m., and Dec. 31 at 8 a.m., all times Eastern.
Currently, the Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Mysteries & Movies are airing the Countdown to Christmas. The regular Hallmark romantic movies, series like When Calls The Heart and new original mysteries such as Gourmet Detective will return after the holiday season.
