Former ‘Bachelor’ Nick Viall Dishes On Why Engagement With Vanessa Grimaldi Did Not Work
Former Bachelor Nick Viall is speaking out about why his engagement to Vanessa Grimaldi was never going to work out. The couple had a lot of problems no doubt. However, a huge issue was that Vanessa did not feel like Nick defended her the way she wanted him too. The conversation about their relationship comes after Vanessa dished to the world she did not want to get engaged on the show. She said she felt pressured and really wanted to wait.
Vanessa had a problem with Raven and Rachel
The Blast shared that while speaking with former Bachelorette Kaitlyn Britstowe, Nick opened up about his doomed relationship with Vanessa. Nick said, “When I ended up with Vanessa she, for different reasons, she didn’t get along with Rachel and Raven. But I guess we didn’t last as long because I suddenly was like ‘I’m sorry, I’m not gonna like–that’s an insane point of view.’ I would try to defend her. I would definitely not defend her the way she wanted me to defend her.”
Nick went on to say that was a problem early on in their relationship. Vanessa would argue about why Nick didn’t have her back. Nick said he did but the reasons behind her wanting him too were a bit insane.
The feud continued behind the scenes of The Bachelor. Rachel Lindsay finally addressed the issues. Rachel said, “Vanessa told me that I used ‘aggressive’ tones with her, and I was very upset by that. There are so many stereotypes placed on African-American women.” The two have since reconciled and get along.

Nick’s reaction to the girls feud
While speaking with Kaitlyn, Nick went on to address the feud between the women. He said, “Like with Vanessa I was trying so hard to protect this relationship but I had certain things where I was like ‘This isn’t OK. I’m not OK with this. And I can’t, in good conscience, agree to do this because it’s not healthy.’ But where do you draw the line?”
Kaitlyn was able to sympathize with how Nick felt. She compared the situation to how she felt watching him and her final rose winner Shawn Booth argue.
Now, all of that is in the past and after several appearances on The Bachelor franchise, Nick is still single. There are dating rumors swirling, but so far nothing serious.
