Netflix has already streamed their first Christmas offerings, including the time travel rom-com, Knight Before Christmas starring Vanessa Hudgens. Her romantic lead is Josh Whitehouse, who may not be a well-known name, but was in the doomed Game of Thrones prequel. What is Netflix’s Knight Before Christmas about? Whitehouse portrays Sir Cole, a 14th century knight. He encounters an old crone, who is actually a magical sorceress, who sends him to modern-day Ohio. It is Christmastime and he needs to complete his quest by Christmas Eve. Sir Cole meets Brooke (Hudgens), who is a science teacher who has been burned by love and is mending a broken heart. But, can he convince this woman of science that he has time traveled? Better yet, can Brooke believe in true love again?
In the Knight Before Christmas, Josh Whitehouse’s Cole is like Chris Pratt circa Parks and Rec meets Thor. He is wacky and tender and a lot of fun. IRL his Twitter handle is @joshisatree. Who Is Josh Whitehouse?
Who is Josh Whitehouse? The British born actor was in several episodes of Poldark, but more importantly, had a mysterious part in the ill-fated Game of Thrones prequel, The Long Night. TV Shows Ace had reported that on October 29, they canceled The Long Night.
This was the Game of Thrones prequel with Naomi Watts and, it turns out, Josh Whitehouse. CNET reported that he had a “lead role” opposite Watts. Watts was to play “a charismatic socialite hiding a dark secret.” He was set to play a “key role” in the series. The two were part of the series pilot that wound up being reworked, before the series was totally canceled by HBO last month.
Watching him in the Netflix movie, dressed up in Medieval armour may only give GoT fans a hint of what they were missing in this doomed prequel. Whitehouse has a lot of charismatic charm.
Multi-talented, Josh is also a musician. Josh wrote and performed the song “Before Christmas” for the Netflix series. He told Billboard that he wanted to write a song specific to the story of the movie. Whitehouse explained that it is “about two strangers from completely different worlds and situations meeting and falling in love against the odds”
Will There Be A Knight Before Christmas 2?
While The Long Night may have not panned out for Josh Whitehouse, he may already have his next gig lined up. Fans who watch into the credits of the Knight Before Christmas, may see that there is an opportunity for a possible sequel. Josh may currently have some free time, that is, unless he is picked up to act in the new Targaryen House of the Dragon. He certainly has Jon Snow hair and could easily play one of his ancestors!
