Duggar: Is Carlin Bates’ Post For Joy-Anna’s Birthday Inappropriate?
Joy-Anna Duggar celebrated her 22nd birthday on Monday! To celebrate the Counting On star, several friends and family members shared social media posts honoring her. One of those posts came from Joy-Anna’s best friend, Carlin Bates. The Bates family is close with the Duggar family. The Bates family has their own show, Bringing Up Bates, on UPtv.
In her post, Carlin wrote a long, sentimental message to Joy-Anna. She shared the highlights of their lives together. She explained how Joy-Anna is her best friend. Fans are loving how heartfelt this message is.
It seems like Joy-Anna appreciated the birthday post from her best friend. In response, she said, “THANK YOU, CARLIN!!!! I love you more than I can express!”

While fans seem to love everything that Carlin had to say about Joy-Anna, some Duggar fans aren’t so sure about the post. In the post, Carlin included a photo from her wedding day. In the photo, Joy-Anna, a bridesmaid, is standing next to her best friend, the bride.
The problem that some fans have with the post is that Joy-Anna is cradling her baby bump. This picture was taken before Joy-Anna tragically lost her second child at 20 weeks gestation. Because of this, fans think that Carlin’s post might be inappropriate or insensitive.

- “Perhaps you could’ve left out the picture of Joy’s last pregnancy??? I’m sure it’s not easy for her to see. Just saying.
” - “I wouldn’t have used this picture since Joy lost her baby. I understand it was a happy moment for Carlin to share with her best friend, but [it] has to be difficult for Joy. I’m sure no harm was intended on Carlin’s part, though.”
”Some fans pointed out that Carlin wouldn’t have posted a picture without making sure it was okay with Joy-Anna. She was there for Joy-Anna after she lost the baby too and even got her ready for a special photo shoot.

Duggar family members post for Joy-Anna’s birthday
Her husband, Austin Forsyth, shared a sweet post on their shared Instagram account. In his post, he wrote, “You are my best friend, cheer-leader, the one I go to for advice, adventure partner, comforter when I need encouragement, and the best mother to our son!” With the heartfelt caption, he shared one of their wedding photos.
Joy-Anna’s sister Jill Dillard shared a birthday post too. She shared two pictures featuring Joy-Anna. The first picture is of Joy-Anna and Austin. The second one is of Joy-Anna and Jill together. The sisters seem very close, even though they no longer live in the big house with their family.
Jedidiah Duggar recently joined Instagram. Because of this, courtship speculation has started going around. On Monday, he posted a picture that includes his sister. He said, “Happy birthday, Joy! I’m really grateful for your friendship. Thanks for being patient with all of us younger brothers growing up! ☺️ It’s so fun to see you now as a wife and mother. Love you very much! Let’s eat some cake!” This is only his second post on Instagram fans, so fans are pretty impressed.
