Peta Murgatroyd of Dancing with the Stars said while they were eliminated on the show, she and Lamar Odom found a great friendship. She stated they were meant to be together and she was thankful the casting director Deena put them together. Initially intimidated by his large size eventually, she found they worked well together.

According to People, the day before they did their last dance, she said Lamar had it down. But on the day of the show, he was a ball of nerves. She said he paced back and forth for hours. While she tried to calm him down, she couldn’t. In the interview below with Access Hollywood Lamar said the show was, “the hardest thing he’s ever done.” This certainly isn’t the same as playing for the NBA.

Why Peta Murgatroyd Said She And Lamar Odom Were Eliminated

Peta Murgatroyd said she thought Lamar was all emotional because his children were there. She said he got into it and showed emotion, but there were issues with the timing and mistakes made. She said she was sad because he had it down pat the day before.

Her emotions were raw and then Leah Remini got to her by saying kind things because she understood the struggle that went into Lamar being at that point. Murgatroyd said she got the mental issues Lamar dealt with and the hours of memorization he put into learning the moves.

Peta said she’s proud to say Lamar is the most improved dancer on DWTS and he had to get over so many obstacles. They were on the bottom weekly but he still smiled and tried again.

She appreciated that people really were supporting him and wanting him to go far.  Peta said, “We might have failed in the scores, but we won people’s hearts. I haven’t had a partner that has 99% of comments being positive about them on my social media.” Lamar was that partner.

Lamar Odom Rose Above His Past With His Turn On DWTS

Lamar Odom had a very public break-up and then some legal and addiction problems. Odom had an overdose that almost killed him as he lay in a coma. He had to overcome various addictions and try to get his life back in order. It was brave for him to go on the show knowing what he would face. Fans were on his side.

Peta Murgatroyd ended with gratitude. She said, “I love my fans and I have to thank them for getting us this far and for being so kind to Lamar! I had a blast.”
