If you have never seen the hit show PEN15 on Hulu, you are missing out. A new season is coming soon. TV Shows Ace recently got the chance to talk exclusively with Taj Cross and get details plus a bit about how he got the role and more.

Interview with Taj Cross of PEN15

Will PEN15 be returning and if so when?

I’m going to start shooting soon and I’m not sure when it will be airing, but you should look forward to
the return of PEN15. I haven’t gotten the script yet but I can tell from Season 1 and from how hard everyone worked that it’s going to be amazing.

How did you land the role in Pen15?

My team sent me the material and the amazing writing allowed me to go deep into my character. After the first audition, I was called in for a chemistry read where I read with Maya for the first time. We performed the awkward dance scene inEepisode 10. It was one of the strangest auditions I have ever been too, but my awkwardness is what got me into the “final audition.”

I was so nervous when I walked into the casting room. I was at my friend’s birthday party the next day when I got the call that I booked it. My heart filled with joy, excitement, and pride.

Have you been working on any other projects? If so, can you tell us about it?

I had a really busy pilot season and I got close to booking a lot of really cool stuff, and I will continue
to express myself with my auditions. However, I did just book my first commercial and I’m looking forward to starting that soon.

How did you prepare for your role in PEN15?

When I received the sides, (a small section of the script) I sat in my room and asked my character questions
about himself so I could truly be in touch with him. I asked him about his family, what he likes to do, and what his insecurities are. By the end of that, I was fully ready to step into the ring and play the role of “Sam.”

Are you going to a public school or home school to work around your schedule?

I’m enrolled in a private school because they are more willing to work around my busy acting schedule. It
was very hard to balance acting with my public middle school so I’m very excited for it to be easier.

Make sure that you don’t miss Season 2 of PEN15 when the show returns to Hulu!
