Kate Gosselin To Star In New TLC Show ‘Kate Plus Date’
Longtime TLC fans will remember Jon and Kate Gosselin from Jon and Kate Plus Eight. The couple split up almost a decade ago, leaving Kate single since then. Of course, she has been raising the couple’s eight children, which has left her little time for dating.
Now, the kids are a little bit older. The twins, Maddy and Cara, will be starting college in the fall. The sextuplets, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden, and Collin, are 14 years old. Since the children are more self-sufficient now, Kate has more of the free time she needs to put herself out there. It’s likely that she’s been ready to date for a while now, but she hasn’t had the opportunity due to raising her kids.
On Monday, TLC posted on Instagram announcing the new show. They shared a short clip showing what the show will be about. Along with the video, they said, “After 10 years, @kateplusmy8 is ready to find love!” The show’s premiere date is set to June 10 on TLC at 10/9c. The clip ends with Kate saying, “Wait until you see ’cause even I can’t believe it.” This definitely gives us something to wonder about in the meantime.

Based on the short clip, it looks like there will definitely be some awkward moments. Keep in mind that she has been single for 10 years so she hasn’t had a lot of dating experience. In the show, she will be easing back into the dating scene. The show is set to be a six-part series following Kate’s dating journey. She will be working with matchmakers to help her get started.
Was Kate Gosselin supposed to be on the show before?
Kate Plus Date was announced in April 2018, but nothing ever came of the show. It was supposed to premiere in the fall of 2018. After the first news of the show, no updates were given. The show never ended up airing when it was supposed to.
Fans asked her for updates about the show, but she didn’t give them an update. At that time, she was facing a lot of backlash over her son Collin because he was placed in a center for children with special needs. She ended up taking a social media break over the whole event.
